Applied Behavioral Analysis

Did you know that according to several studies of children with mental health disorders, 75-80% of those children did not receive the mental health support and services that they need? This statistic holds true for a number of different reasons, ranging from problems identifying mental health and behavioral issues in children to the unfortunate stigma attached to seeking mental health care.

Community Recovery and Wellness Centers is committed to changing this trend. No problem is too big or too small for us to handle, and we have worked successfully with behavior problems ranging from mild to life-threatening. We work with children, adolescents, and adults with or without mental health diagnoses – we treat the individual, not the diagnosis.

How does Applied Behavioral Analysis work?

  1. Assessment – We begin with a thorough behavioral assessment to determine exactly what is going on, what motivates the person to do the problem behavior, and what the most appropriate treatment is.

  2. Individualized treatment plan – Based on the assessment, we create an individualized behavioral treatment plan that is designed to meet the individual’s and the family’s unique needs. These treatment plans often include teaching new positive behaviors and an emphasis on the use of positive reinforcement.

  3. Training parents and others – If we want a child to behave well at all times, it is imperative that the treatment program is carried out by more than just our team of professionals. It is imperative that parents or caretakers are involved as well. We train all parents and caregivers on exactly what, when, and how to be involved in the treatment. By teaching the family how to respond to the child, the child’s behavior can change in meaningful and long-lasting ways.

  4. Monitoring progress – We systematically monitor treatment progress so that we can ensure our treatment is effective and adjust the program as necessary to achieve the best possible results.

  5. Fading out – Our goal is to give you the tools to effectively manage your child’s behavior now and in the future. Once the behavior is moving in the desired direction, we’ll gradually and systematically fade out of the picture so that you can get on with your new lives.
